Saweetie (born July 3, 1993) was raised in the Bay Area but finished high school in Sacramento. She’s lived in Los Angeles for the past 4 years.
Growing up, she moved back and forth between her parents' households but stayed with her grandmother for a couple years and lived in different places a lot.
Many describe her, in terms of her career at least, as an Instagram sensation turned rapper. Inspired most by Nicki Minaj, she burst onto the rap scene on May 25, 2017 with “ICY GRL” which has almost 800,000 listens on SoundCloud. The video boasts close to 3,000,000 views.
Since, she has dropped the “400 Degrees Freestyle”, “Focused” and “FTD”, all of which have tens of thousands of listens. “High Maintenance” has been her second largest successful release, having garnered over 200,000 listens.
On November 13, 2017, she released “EXPEN$IVE” which seems to be a release taken more seriously, as it contains almost 4 minutes of two verses and a catchy chorus, as opposed to “High Maintenance”, a mere 50-second release.
