Francis Albert Sinatra (Hoboken, Nova Jersey, 12 de Dezembro de 1915 — Los Angeles, 14 de maio de 1998) foi um actor americano, e cantor de jazz e pop clássico. É considerado o maior cantor do século XX. Foi casado com as actrizes Ava Gardner e Mia Farrow. Possui duas estrelas na Calçada da Fama, uma por seu trabalho no cinema e outra por seu trabalho na TV americana. Se tornou um dos maiores fenômenos musicais do nosso século ao lado de Elvis Presley e Michael Jackson. Teve três filhos: Nancy Sinatra, Frank Sinatra Jr., e Tina Sinatra. Iniciou sua carreira em 1939, passando logo para as big bands de Harry James e Tommy Dorsey, de quem conseguiu se separar somente após rumoroso atrito, relatado em parte em "The Godfather" (dizem que o personagem Johnny Fontaine foi baseado em Sinatra). Sem quaisquer tipo de aulas formal, Sinatra desenvolveu um estilo altamente sofisticado. Sua habilidade em criar uma longa e fluente linha musical sem pausas para respiração (recursos vocais normalmente encontrados em ópera), sua manipulação de frases (apenas encontradas em Billie Holiday e Mabel Mercer), fê-lo chegar bem mais longe que qualquer outro cantor pop. Era apreciadíssimo por músicos de jazz, pois cantava com divisões magníficas e altamente sofisticadas. Por conta disso, gravou com Louis Armstrong, Count Basie e Duke Ellington, e sesu duetos com Ella Fitzgerald - em shows de TV - são lendários. Sinatra apareceu em mais de cinquenta filmes, entre eles: "Anchors Aweigh" (1945), "On The Town" (1949), ambos ao lado de Gene Kelly, "From Here To Eternity" (1953), com o qual ganhou o Oscar, "The Man With The Golden Arm" e "High Society" (ambos de 1956), "The Manchurian Candidate" (1962) e "The First Deadly Sin" (1980). Fez parte do chamado Rat Pack, grupo de artistas muito ativo entre meados da década de 1950 e 1960, composto por Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, Shirley MacLaine e outros. Teve seu próprio show de TV durante vários anos e nos anos 90 continuou na ativa em concertos e gravações, onde lançou uma série de duetos, inclusive via satélite, utilizando recursos da mais moderna tecnologia. The Voice (a voz) ou The Old Blue Eyes (os velhos olhos azuis), como também era conhecido, certamente ainda irá influenciar muitas gerações.
